Yes, Happy Birthday to Me. 🙂 I am another year older today. I continue to learn new things about the universe and new things about myself; things I cannot quite explain and put into words. It seems with each passing day there is a little more clarity and a different view of the world shown to me.
I feel as if I should write a blog for this occasion, but I’m at a loss as to what to write about. I’ve already written quite a few blogs about myself. And this year, in order to avoid another disappointing birthday, I am letting go of all “birthday” expectations. No expectations = no disappointment. It must be working, because so far, it has been a fabulous day! I did receive a free tarot card reading today. I know most people don’t believe in tarot cards, but I do, and I thought I would share my reading for fun anyway.
|Self: Three of Cups – Celebrate friendships and close companions. You are richly rewarded with people who love you.The card in the Self position reveals aspects of how you perceive yourself right now. When the Three of Cups is in this position, you have balanced your priorities and have harmonized your inner life with your outer life. This leaves you with a sense of serenity and relaxation. The fact that you feel bonded with and supported by your immediate circle of family and friends says that you attract other well-balanced souls like yourself. This card is a compliment to you for having earned the hard-won rewards of peace and trust. The natural flow between you and others is becoming fruitful and enjoyable.
Situation: Death – Let go and make the adjustments required for dealing with a new set of circumstances.
The card that lands in the Situation position refers to social or circumstantial factors which could be affecting your life at this time.
The Death card in this position implies that a force of nature or a change in authority may be forcing you to change your customary way of doing things. While you may have no control over these changes, you can control your reactions to them. It is up to you to make room for the future, rather than trying to forestall it with old thinking or habits.
Face the road ahead with a courageous willingness to respond to transformational energies without any resistance to what you are facing. If you earnestly do this, then no force will be able to overcome you.
Challenges/Opportunities: King of Wands – Learn to practice leadership by sponsoring progress and innovation rather than by fighting for control.
The card that lands in the Challenges/Opportunities position refers to ways that you can turn obstacles into stepping stones.
The King of Wands in this position exposes the fine line between bold leadership and irritating, autocratic bossiness. At times those who would benefit from some helpful management resist it the most, even though their situation could be vastly improved if they were receptive to some direction.
If you see the need for a new way of doing things, then you will have to inspire others in that direction without setting off their anti-authority alarms. It’s less important, however, to care about image than to get the job done. Stay centered on the challenge and others will not be tempted to find fault.
Foundation:Three of Coins – Focus on passing on what you have received.
The card in the Foundation position points to influences from your personal history, your roots and background.
The Three of Coins in this position suggests that your background and conditioning have supported the pursuit of your interests. You have been sufficiently encouraged to follow your passion and develop real expertise.
This is a precious inheritance, to be cultivated and passed on to others who are also in the process of self-discovery for the enrichment of the world. You are in a position to become a benefactor: it’s your turn to pass on what you have received.
Recent Past: Eight of Wands – Your vision of what focus and willpower can achieve changes your aspirations for the future.
The card in the Recent Past position refers to events that are just departing, recently influential but now diminishing in power.
The Eight of Wands in this position says you have emerged from a difficult period that resulted in hard-won yet gratifying progress beyond your previous limits. Although you are probably relieved that the pressure is off, the sense of pride and worthy accomplishment you have gained from this experience is as valuable as the fruits the project has produced.
A new sense of what desire and determination can accomplish changes the way you look at your future. The experience was worth it, even if it was exhausting.
Higher Power: The Hermit – Let other people tend the garden; you are in the sanctum praying.
The card in the Higher Power position reflects the broader perspective and influence of your conscience, Guardian Angel, inner wisdom.
The Hermit in this position implies that an elder lives in your psyche. This wise part of yourself is trying to wean you from your addictions and social distractions and strivings. Because this inner resource offers you such a subtle and precious wisdom, it must be met in the inner sanctum, the privacy of your meditations, the protected space where a shaman performs ritual and encounters the spirit world. The Hermit is instructing you to pull away from the herd and question the spiritual meaning of what you are involved with. Focus on what is essential.
Near Future: The Empress –You deserve the benevolence about to be bestowed on you. Your own loving generosity may be coming back to you.
The card in the Near Future position indicates which way the wind is blowing with regard to your situation. If you follow the Advice card, however, you can improve on or neutralize tendencies.
The Empress in this position indicates that spirit is about to intervene in your life situation. It may be just enough to give you a glimpse of the miraculous. It may be more. You may or may not know who bestows such good fortune, but the care and nurturing that will result come as no accident.
You will come to see that you are not alone, that you are being watched over. What appears to be coincidental good luck may actually be the result of a series of good choices you have made. It’s your turn to have things work out. It’s time to be blessed and nurtured. Relax in the knowledge that you are in good hands and that you are worthy of receiving this generous embrace.
Blocks & Inhibitions: Five of Coins – Some relationship or enterprise lacks harmony and balance.
The card in the Blocks position points to self-undermining tendencies, areas where you could be in denial, where you could get stuck — unless you examine yourself and make some corrections.
When the Five of Coins falls in this position, you are experiencing inequity in some situation or relationship. Respect is not flowing freely back and forth. One person’s agenda may be dominating another’s. It’s important to examine this trend before the situation becomes more unbalanced. Instead of feeling overwhelmed or annoyed, prepare to question these relationships, both within yourself and with significant others.
Note: In the English decks, like the Rider-Waite, the sickly poor freezing outside a well-lit church warn of the painful outcomes of bad choices, rather than focusing on the dynamic tension of the choosing itself, as in the traditional Continental decks.
Allies: Knight of Wands – Identify an ally whose talents and wisdom can help plan your next move.
The card in the Allies position points to people who can be supportive or helpful to you at this time.
The Knight of Wands (in some decks, a Prince) in this position supports action that is well planned for — no impulsive leaps into the void here. Perhaps you have an ally or friend who can help devise a plan so you will feel prepared to go forth into the world of action with some skills that will expedite your progress.
This is a good time to identify that ally or cultivate that friendship, spend more time with her or him, discuss and study this person’s style and talents. See if you can improve your current situation through the use of this proactive person’s experience, insights and wisdom.
Advice: Ace of Wands – Be ready to act on imminent opportunity.
The card in the Advice position suggests a course of action which will harmonize what you want with what is currently possible.
The Ace of Wands in this position encourages energetic movement toward activity. Coil yourself and get ready to spring into action. You may need to make your move soon, so make sure you are fully prepared. Trust your instincts and spontaneity. When the opportunity comes, you may want to seize it without hesitation.
So quicken your senses and raise your antenna. There’s excitement in the air, and it bodes well for your immediate ambitions.
Long-term Potential: The Hierophant – It’s your destiny to be a pillar of your community.
The card in the Long-term Potential position points to unknowns still taking shape. It is the “wild card” yet to be played.
When the Hierophant is in this position, you might want to take on the deep studies you have avoided until now. Prepare to challenge yourself intellectually and ethically and put your ideals to work. You want others to see you as someone who exemplifies and represents higher standards.
Do everything you can to upgrade your reasoning and communication skills, as well as your imaginative powers. The Teacher is your spokesperson for traditional wisdom. Internalize that special knowledge and keep it alive within yourself. Make yourself a fit vehicle for this role.
