My friend Tina wrote a blog (I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours 😉) introducing The 5 Languages of Love. I jumped at the chance to discover yet one more aspect of my personality that many people may over look in themselves and each other. I ranked highest on Acts of Service:
Acts of Service
Can vacuuming the floors really be an expression of love? Absolutely! Anything you do to ease the burden of responsibilities weighing on an “Acts of Service” person will speak volumes. The words he or she most want to hear: “Let me do that for you.” Laziness, broken commitments, and making more work for them tell speakers of this language their feelings don’t matter. Finding ways to serve speaks volumes to the recipient of these acts.
Simply put – in the makeup of my brain, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. But as Tina says, “People often treat others as the old adage states ‘like they would want to be treated’, but often that is not how they receive love.” Not everyone values actions to the extent that I do. Everyone should take this little quiz and then share the results with their significant other, whether you are in a long term relationship or just starting out. It really would make a difference in our relationships if we could just understand each other a little more.
