The Perfect Woman

So yesterday I was chatting with someone who reads my blog, and I was told that I was the perfect woman: smart, sexy, funny and sophisticated.  I had to laugh.  Of course I was flattered beyond words, but I laugh because I know who I am, intimately of course.  I am funny, and sarcastic, and smart.  Sexy or beautiful?  I do alright, but I’m far from perfect.  Sophisticated?  LMAO!  I can be selfish, insecure, crazy and stubborn as hell.  In fact, I wrote this little poem just two days before I was told this:

Too much

Ironically, this morning I woke up with Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman” song in my head.

She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child
But she’s always a woman to me

And it’s true.  I will only show you who I want you to see.  Unless I lose my temper…then you will see more than you want.

She can lead you to love
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But she’ll never believe
And she’ll take what you give her as long as it’s free
Yeah, she steals like a thief
But she’s always a woman to me

You can be in my life or you can leave my life.  While I prefer most people stay, if you want to leave, I’ll show you the door.  And yes, while I lean towards believing what I am told, life has taught me to be skeptical, even if I don’t show that I am.

She will promise you more
Than the Garden of Eden
Then she’ll carelessly cut you
And laugh while you’re bleedin’
But she’ll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
Cause she’s always a woman to me

When I love, I love with all that I am.  I would give those I love the world if I could.  But take my love for granted and you will find out just how evil I can become.

Oh, she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She’s ahead of her time
Oh, and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind

Once again, I am very stubborn.  I won’t give in during a fight.  However, I do know how to let something go, and as badly as I don’t want to sometimes, I still do. Of course, I don’t forget about it, even if I want to.

She is frequently kind
And she’s suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
She’s nobody’s fool
But she can’t be convicted
She’s earned her degree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But she’s always a woman to me

I love hard, very hard.  I will sacrifice a lot for those I love.  But don’t be fooled by my love or generosity, and don’t treat me like a fool.  I know more than I lead on, and I see more than I reveal.  However, if this is song describes the perfect woman, then by God I suppose I just may be the perfect woman.  Just maybe. 😉
